Night Blessing with Crumbs, Rock and Listening, in English and Portuguese

A Night Blessing: Crumbs, Rock, and a Listening Heart

Hey, friend. It’s late. The day has done its whole thing—some of it beautiful, some of it just admin. So before you switch off, here’s a blessing, nice and gentle.

May you lie down with Samuel’s words on your lips: “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.” Not listening like when someone says, “We need to talk,” and you suddenly remember you left the kettle on. Listening like a heart that knows God is not shouting—He’s nearer than your next breath. May you hear grace in the quiet.

And may you build your life like the wise builder in Matthew 7:24—hearing Jesus, yes, but also doing what He says. Not building on sand. Sand is lovely for beaches and volleyball and getting out of your shoes. Terrible for a foundation. May your house rest on the Rock: His words, His ways, His love—practiced, not just posted.

And remember last Sunday’s sermon? That Canaanite woman in Matthew 15. She came to Jesus with nothing but need and nerve. Silence, rejection, a hard word—and still she stayed. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Ooh. That’s faith that will not let go. Not loud, not entitled—just stubbornly humble. May you have that crumbs-of-grace faith. May you know that even a crumb from God’s table is more than enough. May you hold on—not because you’re strong, but because He’s good. And may you remember the One who holds you never lets go.

So tonight: listen like Samuel. Build like the wise. Hold on like the woman at the table. And sleep like a child who knows the Rock is under you, the table is still set, and grace is not running out.

You are loved. You are held. You can rest.
Speak, Lord—your servant is listening.
Goodnight. Sleep gentle. Amen.

E lembra do sermão do domingo passado?

Boa noite. Durma tranquilo. Amém.
